Air Canada Adds New Food & Drink Options Among Other Cabin Enhancements

Jun 13, 2023Jun 13, 2023

Premium eats and over 1,000 hours of in-flight entertainment - here's what Air Canada is offering its customers this Summer.

Oat milk lattes, soba noodles, IPAs, and charcuterie – Air Canada is bringing a taste of Montreal’s hip and happening cafés to 38,000 feet. As part of its “More to Travel” campaign, the Canadian flag carrier has set out to overhaul its off and onboard experience, starting with in-flight eats, family-friendly travel options, and entertainment.

With competitor Porter Airlines recently announcing a refreshed premium catering and drinks menu, Air Canada is stepping up its game with its offerings, appealing to a broader demographic.

Newly added options include oat milk, provided by Vancouver-based Earth’s Own Food Company, making the carrier the first Canadian airline to offer the milk alternative. On the long-haul? Blue Moon and Hop Valley craft beers are also available for passengers, alongside hard seltzers, French wines, and even the iconic Aperol Spritz for a midair tipple.

Air Canada’s Bistro menu, available on flights over two hours, is also set to see some new additions, including butter chicken curry and a plant-based cauliflower masala, joining the carrier’s existing menu items developed and curated by Jérôme Ferrer, David Hawksworth, and Vikram Vij.

"At Air Canada, we know that a comfortable and enjoyable onboard experience is an important part of our customers' travel journey," explained Jacqueline Harkness, Air Canada’s Managing Director of Products and Services.

"We're pleased to offer more food and beverage options across a variety of tastes and preferences, including products not available today on any Canadian airline, as we continue improving Air Canada's overall onboard experience."

As Skytrax Most Family Friendly Airline of 2023, Air Canada’s partnerships with brands including Disney and Mattel are set to give kids and parents something to watch in flight.

Earlier this month, the carrier unveiled a Disney-themed flight safety video, bringing the Magical Kingdom to select flights through the travel season. Once in the skies, toy giant Mattel will provide dozens of hours of tv shows and in-flight entertainment with exclusive content, including Hot Wheels in the City, Thomas and Friends, and Barbie’s Vlogs.

Since 2022, Air Canada has offered live TV across 40 Boeing and Airbus aircraft alongside over 1,000+ hours of in-flight entertainment across 15 languages, with further partnerships set to bring more films and TV shows to the embedded screen.

As it gears up for the busy summer travel season, Air Canada has added some updates to its Air Canada App, streamlining the booking and check-in process at the airport. Recently features to the app, available on iOS and Android, include mobile boarding passes, passport details, improved navigation, and in-flight meal ordering options for international flights.

Premium passengers are also able to access three new lounges; the swanky San Francisco (SFO) Maple Leaf Lounge opened earlier this month, boasting a VIP art room and outdoor terrace, Toronto City Airport’s (YTZ) Aspire Café, and Newark’s (EWR) United Club hosted Air Canada lounge.

Over 200 destinations are currently offered by the airline, including 29 featuring premium lounges. Shifting through into the remainder of 2023 and early 2024, Air Canada will expand its winter sun schedule, offering flights from Toronto (YYZ) to Monterey (MRY) and Fort-de-France (FDF), among other exciting new destinations.
